Structure & Tuition

We treasure the model of a true homeschool cooperative where parents* are taking active parts, small or big, in our regular group meetings. We believe in each parent’s inherent capacity as an educator, even without a formal degree. We also believe that the diversity of minds with a similar vision will create a rich group experience for both children and parents.

We purposefully design the co-op to be small enough to foster a more intimate community. Some children also thrive in a smaller community than a larger one. Above all, we value the quality of our connections more than the numbers.

(*Parent in this description means either the biological parent or guardian of the registered child who signs the child’s registration form.)

Meeting Place:

Mead Botanical Garden, Winter Park, FL

We hold our regular meetings in an outdoor setting. We would like to give the children easy access to natural environment for its many benefits. If there is inclement weather, we will either cancel our meeting or plan an alternative.

Meeting Time:

Thursday, 10 AM to 2 PM

Our meeting time includes periods for structured activities and free play. There is no hard rule on our end time, but families are typically ready to leave at around 2 PM.

Calendar Year

The co-op’s calendar year will run from September to early May. There will be holiday breaks throughout the year to give some rest and allow some time for family events. A detailed calendar will be provided after registration.

Two Groups

We divide our co-op students into two groups based on their ages:

Toadstool Aspen
Age4-6 years old7-12 years old
Current capacity:6 students 8 students

Due to our limited capacity, we cannot accommodate children younger than four years old, unless they have older siblings in the co-op. Priorities will be given to children with older siblings in the Aspen group.

Yearly Tuition

We collect yearly tuition at the time of registration to help us plan our budget. The yearly tuition for 2026-2027 school year is $320 per child. The tuition will cover any group supplies and field trip costs for the enrolled child plus one parent per family. No refund will be available if a family withdraws in the middle of the school year for whatever reasons. Families may need to provide individual supplies for their children based on our recommendation.

Absences

To support the students’ progress and the work of our volunteers, we require each family to attend at least 75% of our meetups, except for critical life circumstances. If the 25% absence is reached, we will assume that the family withdraws their membership from the co-op and their spots will be available for other families.

Parents & Children Community

This group is intended to be a community for both children and parents to grow together. Thus, this is not a drop-off program. The group is also designed to be small enough to foster more intimate connections. Our expectation is that parents also pay attention to what is going on during our meetups to support the children’s learning experience.
