Lesson Plan

Our school year will start in September and end around early May. The regular weekly meetings will consist of several main lesson blocks, seasonal festivals, field trips, and holiday breaks.

Toadstool Lesson Outline for 2026-2027

The lessons for the four- to six-year-olds are built around their daily experiences. They are also designed to engage their imagination, nurture their curiosity, and develop readiness for more academic work as they grow. The children will come together as a group and explore their individuality through songs, verses, movement, and artistic activities.

All these activities will be supported within a healthy and consistent rhythm. The rhythm is also reflected in the seasonality of the stories given. The following is the lesson outline for Toadstool in 2026-2027 school year:

Winter Stories	6 weeks	To learn good moral values from classic children’s tales.
Stories from China	4 weeks	To learn about Chinese culture and good moral values from stories set in China.
Spring Stories	6 weeks	To notice the abundance of spring season and the awakening of nature’s life.

Aspen Lesson Outline for 2026-2027

Lessons for Aspen students (seven to twelve years old) are built into specific themes but are interconnected with multiple academic subjects, such as language arts, geography, science, history, math, and art. The activities are a balance of hands-on, artistic, written, and oral work with a playful feel. As with Toadstool’s, Aspen’s activities are also sustained by a rhythm.

Below is the outline of main lesson blocks for the Aspen group (7-12 years old):

Plant Detectives	10 weeks	To practice investigative scientific and documentation skills in the field of botany through observation, stories, hands-on and artistic activities.
Play with Books 2: “Ra the Mighty: Cat Detective”	4 weeks	To learn about character description, story setting, ancient Egyptian culture, and detective work through fun activities and artistic work.
Native Americans	6 weeks	To understand the culture of several Native American tribes living in different geographical landscapes through stories and hands-on activities.
